We are in the run down to the end of the Summer Term and I’m looking back at another busy year for the PTA. This year being the 50th Anniversary of Moyles Court School, we have concentrated on the front gardens, trying to restore the parterre and installing an Armillary sphere to commemorate this milestone.
We have had several fundraisers:
The Car boot sale:
This year’s car boot sale was our most successful yet. We managed to raise £1,150. It was a beautiful day and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Thank you very much to everyone who helped on the day and who made cakes for us to sell. We really appreciate it.
Quiz Night in March was a brilliant night hosted by our fabulous Quiz Master, Steve Moody. We managed to raise £600.
The Christmas Fair:
What a brilliant day! We managed to raise £2000. Thank you, everyone, for coming along and making it such a great day. Thank you, also, to all those, Staff and PTA, who worked so hard to make it happen.
We have bought several things for the school this year, but possibly our most important purchase is a defibrillator .
Staff have been having training on how to use it from our fantastic nurses.
We have finally dragged ourselves into the twenty –first century - The PTA is now on Facebook! We will try and keep everyone up-to-date with what is going on.

First of all, we’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to all Staff, Parents, Pupils, as well as Santa and his helpers for all your help in organising the Christmas Fair and making it such a fun and successful day.
Unfortunately, we do not yet have the final figure, but believe it to be in the region of £2,000. We shall let you know as soon as we find out.
The money will be going towards wooden sculptures, seating and play equipment that are to be made out of the oak that has had to be felled on the school property this year. There will be something for all age groups.
We will also be buying a defibrillator for the school.
Date for your diaries
Quiz Night: Friday 1st February
Our annual Quiz Night is not to be missed. Our brilliant Quizmaster, Steve Moody, always makes it a fun evening.
Keep your eyes open for dates for our coffee mornings. We will put the dates on the black boards at school. Why not come along and meet some other parents?
Second Hand Uniform
If you have any Moyles Court uniform that is clean, named and still has plenty of life left in it, particularly blazers, jumpers, tracksuits etc… please contact Mrs Sheila Moore on: 01202 517507 as she is our uniform shop keeper. She will sell it on for you and the P.T.A. will only keep 10% of the price.....the rest will go back in your pocket.
Help! Some people like carboot sales, some people like quizzes. Joining the PTA doesn’t mean you have to be involved in every event. We would love it if more people (including Dads!) would join the PTA, or, if you would rather not be on the committee, could we put you on a list of people that would be willing to help us in smaller ways? All help, no matter how little, is gratefully received. Why not come to a meeting and see what we do? The next meeting is on Friday 11th January. Please see us at school or fill in the slip below and pop it in the PTA postbox.

We are a very active association: last year we hosted two carboot sales, two fish and chip quizzes, a Bollywood Night and we ran a NAAFI. This year promises to be just as busy as we plan to have our first Christmas Fair.
All the events that we run are principally designed to provide opportunities for the parents to meet up: to get to know each other, to make new friends and to raise a modest amount of money along the way. We use these funds to assist the school; for example, we bought the pirate ship for the Junior school, more equipment for the languages department and more recently we have paid for the new team shelters in the refurbished netball courts. All donations are carefully considered to ensure that they enhance the quality of life of the children. You will find a small termly subscription to the PTA on your school bill. We use these funds to assist in launching our events, and it is a vital requirement for our many activities.
The PTA is run by a committee of parents. You can always find us at school, or even contact us through the PTA post box just outside the school office.
Please know that you are very welcome to help in any way and to enjoy all the events. You will also find us on our “coffee mornings” which we have two or three times a term. Everyone is welcome – and if you haven’t been before, why not come along and say hello.
If you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
